Picture : Jimmy and girls Never Ever Land.

What a fucking roller coaster this summer has been! It's in my top ONE raddest summer's of all time. If anyone even bothered to read this pathetic excuse for a music blog they would have noticed that yet again I have failed to please and cater for the masses. This Blog is certainly no 'Ohh Crapp' or 'Discodust' nor is it receiving thousands of new loyal readers everyday. I can fucking tell you one thing though, It will continue to give you what sounds good!

Beni - My Love Sees You (Classixx Remix)
This song just floats through my mind every time I hear it, an amazingly beautifully crafted remix of an already sick tune. Adds a nice Deep House/Psychedelic Chill Out feel, I cannot stop listening and never want it to end!

Roscoe (Beyond the Wizards Sleeve Reanimation)
When I first heard this song I thought Radiohead had finally gotten there shit together and come out with another 'Karma Police', or 'Fake Plastic tree's', sadly not so, It's another amazing remix by Erol Elkan under his Beyond the Wizards Sleeve guise. If you like this then definately seek out his new remix album Re-Animations

Downtown Party Network 20-20Days Like These (Vocal)
I've been so lucky lately adding labels on beatport that are only just releasing new material after years of hibernation and rechecking websites right in the nick of time! This song is a fucking monster and I mean that in the most Funk trodden Disco drenched kind of way. I've posted a track by these guys before but never really introduced them properly, freshly signed to Eskimo recordings and killing the Juno download charts these 2 lads from 'Vilnius, Lithuania' have a remarkable story, be sure to check them out here DTPN

Definitely hoping to see them in Australia for next summer!

Boogie corporation - Lay the Funk (Part 1)
I recently very happily and greedily stole a swag of amazing tunes from a friends vinyl collection, Dj Mills. Here's one of his old favourites that I'm posting for the world to have.

You r mine - TR remix
Cant say much about his one as it's a secret, easily the pick of the bunch though! get it!

Trouble is a friend - (Mike Dextro Poper Villians Remix)
Finally a song that takes some of the attention away from all of the La Roux remixes kicking about at the moment, my favourite (of course!) being the Lifelike remix.

This however Is a remix of an Aussie girl from the sticks Lenka, who like many other Aussie artists have made there way to New York or L.A to produce new music. The remix is by a guy called Mike Dextro who from what I can gather is also a promoter/Dj, great stuff.

Beta Blockerz

Last month I promised an exclusive track from some fresh local Perth talent, and this month after waiting for the moon to turn right I am delivering. It seems as though new genre's are the way forward and the Beta Blockerz have launched fair onto it.Poptronica is the nu disco of disco, the nu rave of rave or the electro..nica of pop.

There's several ways music usually goes through my head. I'll hear a song and think wow! that's amazing, as soon as I've discovered the song I'll scramble around for a pen, texta or whatever and frantically jot down track and artist. The other way is the good old grow on you method, a track that pass's through your play list every so often and slowly makes it's way into your head. That's what the Beta Blockerz new track has done. I liked it the first time played it out and became more into it very listen, very catchy.

Danny E & Amelia Van E are the Beta Blockerz, together in there own words there creating 'Super-catchy poptronica with beta-blockin-beatz. One listen and you're hooked!!'

This track got to me was after I found myself humming it yes it took the second option of wowness but after a few listens I was more than bopping around the speakerz. It's fucking great to hear such cool music come out of Perth. If you enjoy sneakysound system, the presets or even Q45 and Amy B then this is music is for you.
The Beta Blockerz were recently in the TOP 5 MUSICOZ finalists for dance/electronica music!
Music Oz awards

I'm a sucker for a vocoder too so this song was cool from the word go! These guys are going to be getting alot more attention over the next 12 months so do yourselves a favour and show them some love Beta Blockerz . They've not long had there myspace page up and running so feel free to drop them a line and say hi, I did! alternatively here's there web page where I'm sure you might be able to sneak a peek at some of there other tunes. http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.aspx?epk_id=168600

Hope you enjoy

It's been so long!

FUCK!!! Before I type anything more, before I fill you all with appologies and reasons why I havent posted in a month, I'm going to put some music on, i think I'll play out some Disco...

**insert disco music into your heads here**

Ahh so much better, if the word "Funk" isn't a drug then my names not Captain Groovenuts!

I've got a summer's worth of greatness right here, some stuff from other blogs (as you do) some stuff from beatport (as you do) and some exlusive music native to the shores of Western Australia. I guess you could say I've been a busy little bee living everyday off the fumes of a illicit drug called music. These are songs that I have danced my way through and continue to dance my way though summer to.

So without talking anymore bullshit here's a serious aresnal of tunes that if you dont already have your an IDIOT! .. Harsh but fair!

Half of the reason why I didn't do a top 10 track or albums of 2008 is I dont have any, I mean who really does? music is making such a mark each and everyday that there are far to many great new songs to have a favourite, anyone who can honestly say that there's a track from the start of the year that out shines anything from this month is loco! seriously there are far to many good new songs each and every month.

The Laughing Light Of Plenty have churned out a funk monster "The Rose" is one of the merriest, festive funk tracks I have ever heard in my life! I think that if Santa had some JBL's on his sled and some Vodka to boot then this is what he'd be flogging. These Guys only have 3 tracks on there myspace page and I don't know much about them really, except that this is setting the mark for 2009, *giddy up! *Quote Sam Woodward*

The Laughing Light of Plenty - The Rose

Chromeo are playing at Good Vibes in Perth on the 22nd of February their remix of The Vampire Weekend's "The Kids don't Stand A Chance" I'd seriously file under Disco Dirty Reggae.

Erol Alkan aka:
Beyond The Wizards Sleeve is back with more great production skills or, in english, a fucking great song. I'm posting this song because it fits into my "Freakshow Disco" Category, I could swear that Erol Alkan has been listening to T-Rek from Melbourne. Call it whatever you want but I'm sure it's Freakshow Disco.. Woop nearly forgot it's a Franz Ferdinand remix.

Pink Stallone = Rad Yes thats right everything else has come back from the Eighties to haunt us so why not the word 'Rad' or 'Radical'... Use it people and it will grow on you!

The most unbelieveable thing about this track (apart from it's fucking Rad!) is that it's only been played 126 times on their myspace player in comparison to Empire Of The Sun which has had 300 000 000 plays (also fucking Rad!). So take this wonderfull, sexy, horny, glitchy, rad, disco piece and devour it as it has me!

To celebrate how cool my life is at the moment I'm just going to post some more songs and let you do the research, if you want to know anything then ask me I'd love to hear from you! I hope that these songs fill your summer with happiness as they have mine. Buenos Noches Amigo's.

Secondo -Kuwait
Downtown Party Network-Into Your Face
Skatebaard - Skatebard Loves You

Engulfed by the beat

When it gets to the stage where your life has become engulfed by music then you know your rolling high. Things have, without question, started to kick of here (OZ) for summer. The weather (global warming permitted) is sorting it's shit out, people are buzzing and music festivals, club nights, bars and pubs are firing. These may be just some of the reasons for our lack of recent posts or could it just be that our hangovers are to unbearable to even go near the keys?

If I was to write a post now regarding every amazing gig I've seen in the last 4 weeks I'd be here for ever, no shit I would! But what I can do is break it down, give a top 5.

Starting with the French genius Joakim, when I say the word genius I really mean genius. The French producer's label TIGERSUSHI has a pretty impressive line up in itself even without Joakim. I had the pleasure of seeing him play at a recent beach party @ the OBH along side LA riots (who don't really deserve a mention).  This gig has to be in my TOP 5 gigs of the summer (so far anyway).
Joakim's devesirty, and his ability to make amazing music then play a set that sounds nothing like his own productions is a fucking cool quality. The set i saw him play was so Italio Disco driven but yet so up beat it had everyone going crazy!!
So here's a few of the man's beats, he also in another project with a live band labelled JOAKIM & THE DISCO. Please do be keeping your eyes out.

My Territory-(Joakim Vocal remix)
Air - Surfing on a rocket (joakim remix)

I choose this track because I love how the drums kick in after the sampled guitar, fuck yes!

I haven't really done a follow up post to Parklife and although it was well over 4 weeks ago cannot help but put a tune up from these guy's. if your in Sydney tomorrow go and catch them at Homebake....(drum fill)

It's the Bag Raiders, yes yes! It was great to see these 2 guys get up on stage and do there live show, just a mac, guitar & midi controllers so sweet. There just cheeky dudes having heaps of fun. oh yeah and of course there signed to bang gang 12 inches

Shooting Stars - Bag Raiders

Being engulfed doesn't necessarily mean there on the spot it can also mean repeat. Although this guy is from Australia he seems to be running riot (pardon the pun) in Europe. BENI a member of Riot in Belgium is making ripping music! I cant get this music out of my head.  Fingers crossed he's heading over this way soon.

Sneaky Sound System - Kansas City (BENI REMIX)

Herbie Hancock

This video is utterly amazing and after spending the last 2 weeks solid trying to produce great synth sounds it puts me to shame and most producers for that matter. I found this on the Run Hide and Survive myspace page so big ups to those guys for putting it up! You can hear the herbie influence in there recent production I'm sure of it!
